SLJ-It's all in a days work, activity 1. A house or a home.

Wharepuni vs My Home.

A wharepuni is 1 big room - My house has 8 difrent spaces and 3 bedrooms.
Wharepuni is only a sleeping place - My house has everything in the one space.
Wharepuni have whakairo that make it beautiful and special - My house looks like lots of other peoples houses.
Wharepuni is a house for the whole tribe - My house is only where my family lives.

my name is Cia. I am a Ako Hiko Summer Learning Journey commentator who will be working with various bloggers over the summer break.

I am so excited that you have decided to start the Summer Learning Journey, welcome!

Wow, thank you for being diligent about providing detailed similarities and differences between your home and a wharepuni. I really like that you’ve included a picture of your Marae, thanks for sharing something about yourself. Perhaps next time you could include a picture of your house or one that looks similar so readers can compare and respond in the comment section.

My house is different from a wharepuni because it doesn’t have any carvings on its exterior. One similarity they share is that they are both used to sleep in. Have you thought about any other similarities or differences? Let me know in the comment section below! Also, what does ‘whakairo’ mean?

I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday, don’t forget to comment on other blogs and reply to comments if you’d like to earn extra points (2 points per comment or reply).

  2. Kia Ora Ngarui,

My name is Georgia and I'm the cluster manager for the Kaikohekohe Cluster. It is awesome to see you've begun the Summer Learning Journey and we are so excited to see you've completed some activities.

I really enjoyed reading your similarities and differences to your house and a wharepuni. I can tell you have an extensive knowledge on wharepuni's, that's so awesome to see.

I really like that you included a photo of your marae, that's such a great way for us to get to know you. Do you often go to your marae with your whanau? My whanau's marae is Tauwhara which is in Kaikohe.

You have just under two weeks to complete activities with the Summer Learning Journey, before we finish up for the summer and I visit your school to present certificates and prizes.

Keep up the great work and I hope to see more blogposts from you soon.

    Nga mihi
    Georgia
